How To Ensure Your Email Messages Look Great In Any Client

Life as an email marketer would be so easy if every email client on every machine behaved exactly the same way. However, that's not the case. And, to make matters worse, we really have no 100% fool-proof way to know exactly how our readers will be viewing our email messages.

It's pretty easy to deduce that a reader with a Hotmail address will be reading his mail through the Hotmail web client. But will a reader with a TLD email address be looking at our message through Outlook? And will it be Outlook 2000, Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007? Or maybe he's using Lotus Notes? What if he had his TLD email forwarded to a Yahoo account? And is he using a Mac or a PC?

Since we don't have any of this information when we're designing our email campaigns, it's important that we code our HTML email with the "least common denominator" in mind.
